“The really important kind of freedom involves attention and awareness and discipline, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them over and over in myriad petty, unsexy ways every day. That is real freedom. That is being educated, and understanding how to think. The alternative is unconsciousness, the default setting, the rat race, the constant gnawing sense of having had, and lost, some infinite thing.”
– David Foster Wallace

This morning’s Solar Question, on Noticing Nature, was about family and appreciation, and in order to be honest, I was, but this led me to feeling all blah and ewwww and barf, which then annoyed me, which annoyed me too! Next came the David Foster Wallace quote and Tao Te Ching random reading 17–I’m no Master but it applied. And I thought I neeeeeeeeeeeed to do this why not as a Morning Trip. My insides said nooooooooo that is for profundities. I scowled at it and laughed and said what is more profound than honest conversion and a hosing off of the slime of self piteous observations. So I typed in feeling sorry for self at Youtube and OMG sooooooooooooo funny and yet so not. It even works for me if I did not know the uhm lyrics. But effective once seeing those too! Is like instapurge!!! yay! giggles, enjoy
