Sunday Photography Interview: Adam Romanowicz & Poetry Challenge

[sic]Adam Romanowicz is an avid pursuer of the artistic and the abstract. An engineer in “the real world,” Romanowicz’s passion for composition and the outdoors has led him to an adventurous life of fine art, as well as editorial and commercial stock photography. His website, 3scape is an award-winning institution show-casing his fine art work. His published credits run the gamut, from CD covers and store displays to the Oxford Dictionary for the Middle Ages.

Today, this inspirational photographer has taken time from his busy schedule to share a bit of insight with One Stop Poetry.”

Converging--by Adam Romanowicz

INSTANCE
Spontaneous flame did burst
Upon the tree
Soaring on the wind
Tornadic fire to consume

Rush
Crackle
Snap
Unfurl

Drawing Earth
Up heaving world

Eagle cries out into wind
Taking messages
Kindred twin

Raging wind
Thunder’s roar
Lightning’s warning

A silent pause deep in the din
A raindrop trickles down her skin
Melting rage and fire deep
Within a soul

In a moment she remembers
Stretches arms up to the sky
Calling torrents of the welcome rain to kiss away pain

One Shoot Sunday and McConnellstown Party Line Memory Ramble–Purple Profundity: Poetry by Elisabeth Connelley

Good Morning! It’s One Shoot Sunday again! (Ok, so it’s Tuesday, I got stuck without a keyboard and then my writing got stuck too!)

Sunday Photography Interview (Part 2): Rob Hanson & Poetry Challenge

Last week saw many great responses to Mr. Hanson’s lovely photography. There were numerous creative takes that went to all corners. I thought, before we delve into the second half of this interview, you might be interested in hearing the true story behind “The Bootmaker,” which was One Stop’s official prompt for last Sunday’s challenge.

From Rob Hanson: “That’s Peter Limmer, of Limmer & Sons, Bootmakers, in Intervale, New Hampshire. They are currently sixth generation (and likely last) Austrian bootmakers of the highest repute. A pair of custom boots will take up to two years to deliver (if you even get on their schedule), and cost a minimum of $600. They also have stock boots, of which I have a pair. They are, without a doubt, some of the best hiking boots you’d ever want to own.”

And now, enjoy the second half of the interview, as well as the prompt to follow.

McConnellstown Party Line Memory Ramble

Get off the party line
Oily rags
Turpentine

Churning butter
–on the stoop
Giant enamel bowls
Peaches to peel and to pit
Watermelons
Chilling in the spring

Tables
Chairs
Kegs of nails

Razor Strap
And window frame

Hearing shows,
on the porch
From the radio
I called it
Church in a box
–shaped as old church window, arched

Glitter and dance of kerosene lamps
The night and hallways
Less scary in the glow

Sharp
Frightening
Teeth
Glare
From a hook
Living history
Not just a book

Push and shove
Back and forth
Something straddled
On the horse

Pies on the table
Apple butter kettle
Over hardwood
Fire in the yard

Memories suspended
In yesterday
My Pappy

One Shoot Sunday and The Sun Sighed at the Earth Today–Purple Profundity: Poetry by Elisabeth Connelley

Good Morning! It’s One Shoot Sunday again! The following is quoted to attribute the photographer and the site that supports and encourages The Poetry Challenge of One Shoot Sunday.

“This week, One Stop showcases the work and insights of Scott Wyden, a portrait and travel photographer from New Jersey specializing in landscape and commercial/fashion work. A talented photographer, his name is attached to numerous projects – including creation of the now-sold photowalklist.com, as an editor on HDR Spotting, and as a guest writer for several photo-related websites.”

The Sun Sighed at the Earth Today
The sun sighed at the Earth today, the sound,
Lost among voices,
Rushing from the streets

She reached down to caress the Earth,
I felt her fingers trailing through my hair

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her tears splashed,
Another soul lost in the well

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her reflection in the moon
A small cool spark, clasped tightly in my hands

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her breath of desperation
My breath of joy
While shattering the glass surface of the well
The droplets arching down
Each one a thousand stars upon itself

Children’s laughter patters down
I reach
The droplets, watering the iris of my mind’s eye
I reach into the sun
And she sighs at the Earth today

Sunday Photography Interview: Walter Parada & Poetry Challenge
“Walter Parada is a California man, born and raised, and a passionate pursuer and tweeter of all things photographic. Though he shuns referring to himself as an artist, Walter is a professional that certainly knows his art, and pursues a wide spectrum of the field with precision and talent. One Stop would like to extend a warm welcome to him this week as he shares his insights and his images with us…

Thank you to Mr. Parada for sharing this Sunday’s Picture Prompt.

Passion
To live without passion is to strip us of our humanity. Every expression is life! Every suppression and denial is a cut with a knife to the inner flame, the I AM! There is a way to be unique, individual and yet, part of the group of other humans.

PASSION! The ability to taste, touch, feel, see, smell, shout, scream, cry, laugh, fly…

The majority of time that I have seen, grief and sorrow are not seen as a Passion. Passion, for many, seems to denote sex and Valentine’s Day. Other times, passion is labeled to crimes.

Perhaps passion then, is each vulnerable bubble let fly from the spirit, exactly as it is, uninhibited and let go, to watch it until it can no longer be seen in the distance or is eclipsed by the next moment of passion.

One Shoot Sunday and The Door–Purple Profundity: Poetry by Elisabeth Connelley

“One Stop Poetry Challenge – the Photography of Fee Easton

Today we welcome back no stranger to One Shoot Sunday. UK photographer Fee Easton was featured back in March. Her interview with Chris G. and picture prompt challenge for that day proved very inspiring to many of us.

Since talking to her via Twitter, she has offered her work to our community to allow poets a greater choice for poetic creation, thus presenting a challenge from which participants may choose from five of her amazing photographs.”

One Stop, Challenge Time!

Option 4

Option 4 One Shoot Sunday May 15, 2011--by Fee Easton

The Door

Rusted metal

Arrested function

Pistons heat frozen

Viscosity
Erected long ago
Sluggish
Remembrance

Fleck
Fire
Flame
Into form
Blazoned
Hot breath
Shimmering through
Old creases

Drop
Moist
The old man’s eye
Trained, placed against that old tree

Settle back
Creaky chair by the porch
Gazing

At the door

One Shoot Sunday and Memory Lane–Purple Profundity: Poetry by Elisabeth Connelley

Good Morning! It’s One Shoot Sunday again! The following is quoted to attribute the photographer and the site that supports and encourages The Poetry Challenge of One Shoot Sunday.

“Greg Laychak is what is known as a documentary photographer. Originally from Canada, Greg has since moved to South Korea, where he created his prominent work, “Fading Voices” – a photo documentary project about victims/survivors of sexual slavery from WWII. Greg’s work often focuses on the concept of identity, a fact that hovers, almost hauntingly, through many of his photographs.

If you’re interested in seeing more of his work, note that it will be exhibiting in London from May 11 through 24 at the Hotshoe Gallery.

Memory Lane
Looking far ahead
from my place
in this
hall
of memories

I live
here,
it
holds
me
and all

that I see
in windows
delusion
or fog
mine

never touched
but by me
things snatched
shoved
placed
carefully
or not
into baskets of safety
and ownership
along my way
and yours

I sit and caress them
order them
change me
and what I think of them
my brothers and sisters
no doors to close
and

I sit
up
a bit straighter
the leaves
on the trees
laugh and chatter
dancing on refreshing breezes
and grinning
lightness
in the Sun.

One Shoot Sunday and A Child–Purple Profundity: Poetry by Elisabeth Connelley

Good Morning! It’s One Shoot Sunday again! The following is quoted to attribute the photographer and the site that supports and encourages The Poetry Challenge of One Shoot Sunday.

‘Tis good to have choices… Fellow artist and One Shoot Sunday alumnus, James Rainsford understands that and has even suggested an excellent picture prompt challenge. So take your pick. Go on, James offers us five photos.

A Child
I sit amongst the trees
the breeze
to take
my soul, I rest in unkempt grasses
cushioned among hills of moss
which grows, where
the sun cannot penetrate
the great ceiling of leaves.
The clover stretches endlessly
to one
lying minute
miniscule
yet a part of such a place.
The leaves quiver,
as boughs are waved
hoping to
catch a
glimpse of tiny angel’s eyes,
they peek shyly ’round the limbs
of one so aged and strong
gnarled trunks
holding
secrets known, before
such rancor
did we
the human race display
upon the dirty streets
and smells
rough chemicals
and poisons we disperse
shall please those of a soul
so fell
the mighty aged trunks
and leaning one by one…
Yet wait,
a tiny twinkle far away,
There,
a child, no more than three
flies dancing with the trees
Just in that moment
when,
the sun’s sharp rays come piercing down
through shadows in the wood
Childish laughter
Pelting,
out man’s noise
His arms outspread
and turning ’round
trees spin above his head
A child will free us all
one day
They shall dispel man’s dread.

One Shoot Sunday and Peek:Purple Profundity: Poetry by Elisabeth Connelley

Here is entry number Two! There is a lot that can be done with this week’s image!

Good Morning! It’s One Shoot Sunday again! The following is quoted to attribute the photographer and the site that supports and encourages The Poetry Challenge of One Shoot Sunday.

“Hello one and all – welcome to the latest edition of One Shoot Sunday. Normally, you would hear me (Chris Galford) wax philosophic here or provide you with an introduction to our latest photographic find. Today, however, we’re simply going to be providing you with a prompt from an old friend of One Stop’s.

You may remember Roger Allen Baut @ChasingTao from the early days of OneShoot (Roger’s One Shoot Interview). If not, you should definitely take a look now. A talented and friendly photographer, he makes his return to One Stop today with something a little more abstract. Look beneath the surface. What speaks to you here? Let your imagination go for this one.”

Peek–Purple Profundity:Poetry by Elisabeth Connelley

snow
snow
and more snow

falling gently
covering
crossing and uncrossing
a toe
stuck up a man’s nose

stolen kisses
objections of wind
shrieking at the seams
of windows
frosted over with steam

reflected
in the mirror over the sink
seen
by eye
at the center of you
peeking
