Sunday Photography Interview: Rosie Hardy & Poetry Challenge

“The time has come, one and all, for that saddest of days— it is my regret to once more say to you all that this is the final One Shoot Sunday. We have such a treat for you on the auspicious day, though, for it’s my pleasure to give to you the marvelous Rosie Hardy. Hardy has an amazing talent for people—from weddings, to children, to model events; but many of you music fans might recognize her work as well. Then 19-year-old Hardy provided the cover shot for Maroon 5′s album, Hands All Over (she also happened to be the model featured in the shot). She’s also done work for Samsung and Penguin Book Publishers, among many others. This young star of the photographic world was kind enough to take the time to interview with One Stop Poetry, and it’s my pleasure to offer her work and her words for our last feature here.

INSTANCE
Spontaneous flame did burst
Upon the tree
Soaring on the wind
Tornadic fire to consume

Rush
Crackle
Snap
Unfurl

Drawing Earth
Up heaving world

Eagle cries out into wind
Taking messages
Kindred twin

Raging wind
Thunder’s roar
Lightning’s warning

A silent pause deep in the din
A raindrop trickles down her skin
Melting rage and fire deep
Within a soul

In a moment she remembers
Stretches arms up to the sky
Calling torrents of the welcome rain to kiss away pain

Noticing
Smooth sheets caressing naked calves and feet

The soft grunted intake of air

Upon bumping a familiar round belly

A sigh and change of position

To spoon one back into sleep

Hands on breast and thigh

Soft sleep warmed lips brushing fur

Smiling

Relaxing into

Familiarity

Significant non-quickening

Careful languishing sighs

Sheer curtains move

As always they move

In winter

From blowing heat.

A door creaks open

Something wanders in

Stares intently,

Observer of a chrysalis

Eyes rub

Feet flex

Toes wriggle

Sheets move

Feet hit the floor

Born again

Midsummer Evenings–Park Home

I think that I am going to try something new.  Perhaps only once.  Hopefully for at least the month of June, if not the entire summer!  I’m going to walk about the local area each evening in Summer and post what I find that interests me.  The Hometown History Assignment had value for me in reaching beyond into other subject matter and how I can make it seem more or less ‘flat’ for myself and perhaps others.  Besides, the idea of evening Summer photographs feels romantic to me!

The Sun Sighed at the Earth Today
The sun sighed at the Earth today, the sound,
Lost among voices,
Rushing from the streets

She reached down to caress the Earth,
I felt her fingers trailing through my hair

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her tears splashed,
Another soul lost in the well

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her reflection in the moon
A small cool spark, clasped tightly in my hands

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her breath of desperation
My breath of joy
While shattering the glass surface of the well
The droplets arching down
Each one a thousand stars upon itself

Children’s laughter patters down
I reach
The droplets, watering the iris of my mind’s eye
I reach into the sun

Passion
To live without passion is to strip us of our humanity. Every expression is life! Every suppression and denial is a cut with a knife to the inner flame, the I AM! There is a way to be unique, individual and yet, part of the group of other humans.

PASSION! The ability to taste, touch, feel, see, smell, shout, scream, cry, laugh, fly…

The majority of time that I have seen, grief and sorrow are not seen as a Passion. Passion, for many, seems to denote sex and Valentine’s Day. Other times, passion is labeled to crimes.

Perhaps passion then, is each vulnerable bubble let fly from the spirit, exactly as it is, uninhibited and let go, to watch it until it can no longer be seen in the distance or is eclipsed by the next moment of passion.

This one makes me think of Janus, I did not hear its name, nor did I ask, this trip.
