Acceptance and Wholeness

Finally I am coming to the conclusion
that my highest ambition is to be what I already am.
That I will never fulfill my obligation
to surpass myself
unless I first accept myself,
and if I accept myself fully in the right way,
I will already have surpassed myself.
– Thomas Merton

Uncertainty–Who did we allow to give us doubt, simply because we exercised the right to be just where we are in a moment?

FEAR–Who taught us to be afraid of fear, and why did we let them?

JOY–In the remotest of recollections, sometimes locked away and brought forth in sudden bursts of kindness for our spirits.

JOY–In feeling and experiencing the simple and yet profound things God has provided, if we notice.

All of these things make us who we are. Not the pretty bits alone. Not the ugly bits alone. Not the bits that we choose to alter about our daily actions alone. When we attempt to pick out one bit alone–We are ALONE. Alone because we shun acceptance of allllllllll of who we are, cut off from ourselves. We allow ourselves to feel lost and disconnected, we float, searching. In the end, the most amazing thing about doing the picking apart on many occassions is IT IS PART OF US ALSO! I know that I celebrate it all! How about you?
