Winter in Summer (for needing a little chill)

The Desired Snow--by elisabeth connelley

Just in from mowing a field, I mean a yard. Thank the Lord for showers and cold water! It is so funny to notice today, that for a moment everyone was joyful about Spring, or lack of snow. Then came the rain, beautiful anti-drought rain, and cooler than seasonal temperatures for most. I must admit, that it has been difficult for farmers, but many more than the farmers have been irritated and otherwise about the deluge. SO…we have dry and hot hot heat! People whining all day here…perfect sun, perfect clouds, perfect Summer!

Happily looking at that snow, that for me covers life, and thinking of letting it melt over my body as I watch a crimson sun set against ink black trees on the horizon….mmmmm Perfection!

One Shoot Sunday and The Sun Sighed at the Earth Today–Purple Profundity: Poetry by Elisabeth Connelley

The Sun Sighed at the Earth Today
The sun sighed at the Earth today, the sound,
Lost among voices,
Rushing from the streets

She reached down to caress the Earth,
I felt her fingers trailing through my hair

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her tears splashed,
Another soul lost in the well

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her reflection in the moon
A small cool spark, clasped tightly in my hands

The sun sighed at the Earth today
Her breath of desperation
My breath of joy
While shattering the glass surface of the well
The droplets arching down
Each one a thousand stars upon itself

Children’s laughter patters down
I reach
The droplets, watering the iris of my mind’s eye
I reach into the sun
And she sighs at the Earth today

Morning Trip (54)

“It is a release, like a dip in a healing, cool, fresh river. Now I am washed away in the river; after so much fussing, I am torn away and alone in the current. But I can swim, or rather, float. The self I held, I left with my towel on the shore, but I’m still alive; I haven’t drowned or died. Pieces of what I imagined I had to grip to me come floating along beside me. The current of the world is unraveling in faces and forms. Without my will the universe unrolls, and fills my arms with muscles, my heart with human concerns. The scintillating milky way of my back is a winking and shimmering constellation; my body itself is a river, a continent of rivers, a flickering, vibrating, shore less ocean of currents and channels, unfathomable, beginning less, endless. The living ride on life like the foam on the crest of a surge on the cosmic ocean.”

These were on a tree.  I do not yet know the identity of the yellow flowering tree and have never seen nor noticed anything like it before!
